Application of polyethylene / pe wax in Masterbatch


Masterbatch is composed of carrier resin, filler and various additives. The limit of additives or filler content in masterbatch is several times to more than ten times higher than that in actual plastic products. In the process of molding, the ratio of masterbatch and matrix resin must be adjusted according to the content of relevant components in masterbatch and the amount to be added in actual products. Masterbatch is the most representative masterbatch in plastic masterbatch. Polyethylene wax is widely used in masterbatch processing. The purpose of adding pe wax is not only to improve the processing performance of  masterbatch system, but also to promote the dispersion of pigments in masterbatch. Pigment dispersion is very important for masterbatch. The quality of  masterbatch mainly depends on the dispersion of pigment.

Common dispersants include white oil (Liquid Paraffin), paraffin, dioctyl phthalate (BOP), low molecular weight polyethylene (polyethylene wax) and stearic acid. The main properties of dispersant can be selected and used according to the performance characteristics of filler and carrier resin. Polyethylene wax can improve the dispersion level of pigment to a certain extent. It is the most commonly used dispersant in the production of masterbatch.

When the masterbatch system containing polyethylene wax is processed, the pe wax melts before the carrier resin and is coated on the pigment surface. Due to its low viscosity and good compatibility with pigments, polyethylene wax is easy to wet pigments, penetrate into the internal pores of pigment aggregates, weaken cohesion, make pigment aggregates easier to open under external shear, and new particles can also be quickly wetted and protected. In addition, polyethylene wax can reduce the viscosity and improve the fluidity of the system. It can effectively solve the precipitation phenomenon of filling masterbatch products; It can effectively reduce the smoke generated in the production environment and reduce material consumption. Especially, while increasing the output, it can effectively reduce the torque and head pressure of the twin-screw extrusion granulation unit and reduce the host current; When downstream customers are applied in plastic products, the product dispersion is uniform, and the product appearance is also significantly improved, which can greatly improve the surface finish and toughness of the products.
