  • Low-Temperature Flexibility: Below 0°C, wax domains plasticize the matrix, reducing glass transition temperature (Tg) by 5–8°C to prevent cracking.

Ⅱ. Micro-Engineering the Colloidal Structure

  Asphalt’s performance hinges on asphaltene dispersion. PE WAX acts as a colloidal stabilizer:

  • Disperses asphaltene aggregates via steric hindrance (wax layer thickness: 10–50 nm)

  • Reduces interfacial tension between saturates/aromatics by 20–30%

  • Forms co-crystalline domains with paraffin fractions to inhibit wax segregation

Ⅲ. Rheological Synergy with Polymers

  When combined with SBS/SEBS modifiers, PE WAX enables:

  • Accelerated Crosslinking: Wax droplets dissolve SBS domains, reducing mixing time by 25–40%

  • Shear-Thinning Control: Lowers complex viscosity (η*) at 135°C by 35–60% for easier paving

  • Storage Stability: Density matching (0.92–0.96 g/cm³) prevents modifier separation
