Mechanism of PE wax in rubber and plastic processing

 Polyethylene wax is a type of lubricant and mold release agent with good external lubrication. Adding it to rubber and plastic can improve processing efficiency and improve product surface gloss and abrasion resistance.

The role of the lubricant is to reduce the friction between the polymer and the processing machine contact surface and the friction between the polymerized molecular chains. The former becomes an external lubricant and the latter is called an internal lubricant. Internal lubricants are compatible with the polymer, at room temperature, are less compatible, and in a corresponding increase in the high-temperature compatibility. Internal lubricant effect For PVX, the lubricant and plasticizer can be regarded as the same substance, but the polarity of the lubricant is low, and the compatibility of the lubricant with PVC is lower than that of plasticizer. A small number of lubricant molecules can penetrate between polymer molecules, weakening the mutual attraction of polymer molecules, and making it easier for the molecular chains to slide and rotate with each other when the polymer is deformed.
