Different applications require different functions. In color masterbatch, PE wax helps improve pigment wetting and dispersion. In filler masterbatch, it can improve lubrication and melt flow. In PVC processing, the balance of internal and external lubrication can affect plasticization, surface quality and processing stability.
Therefore, there is no single PE wax suitable for every application.
Melt viscosity is an important parameter of PE wax. Lower viscosity generally provides better fluidity and can help wet pigments or fillers during processing.
However, lower viscosity does not always mean better performance. The ideal viscosity depends on the resin system, filler or pigment loading and processing conditions.
Two PE waxes with similar melting points may still behave differently because of differences in molecular weight, viscosity and molecular weight distribution.
This is why selecting PE wax based only on melting point can sometimes lead to unexpected results in actual production.
PE wax interacts with resins, pigments, fillers and other additives. A grade that works well in one formulation may not perform the same way in another.
Testing under actual processing conditions is therefore important, especially when replacing an existing wax.
The right PE wax should provide a suitable balance of lubrication, dispersion, flow and compatibility.
At Qingdao Sainuo New Materials Co., Ltd., we offer different PE wax grades for color masterbatch, filler masterbatch, PVC and other polymer applications. Based on your formulation, processing conditions and current product specifications, our team can recommend a suitable grade for testing.
