What is the knowledge of calcium stearate?

Calcium stearate is a white fine powder, non-toxic. Insoluble in water, slightly soluble in hot ethanol and hot vegetable oil, easily soluble in hot pyridine. The relative density is 1.08 and the melting point is 179 ℃. It has water absorption in air. In case of strong acid, it is decomposed into stearic acid and corresponding calcium salt. 

Sainuo calcium stearate has no sulfur pollution, good long-term thermal stability, good lubrication and demoulding performance.

It is a pure white to yellowish white loose powder, delicate, no sense of sand, with a lighter special smell. It is hygroscopic in air. The melting point is 179 ℃, insoluble in water, ethanol and ether, slightly soluble in hot ethanol. It is commonly used as anti binding agent, binder, emulsifier, film remover, stabilizer and coagulant, thickener, fragrance enhancer, etc. The acid value is 191 ~ 203, ash content is 9.9% ~ 10.3%, chloride < 200ppm, true density is 1.064-1.0969/cm3, fluidity is 21.2% - 22.6% (CARR compressibility index), free fatty acid is 0.3% - 0.5%, melting point is 149-160 ℃, water content is 2.96%, specific surface area is 4.73 ~ 8.03m2/g, sulfate < 0.25%.

1. Principle

Stearic acid reacts with sodium hydroxide, and then reacts with calcium chloride for double decomposition.

2. Production process

Add 110.4 kg of stearic acid and a certain amount of water to the stirred reactor, heat and stir. When the temperature rises to 70 ℃, start dropping 168 kg of 10% sodium hydroxide solution. When the pH of the solution is 8 ~ 10, control the temperature at 80 ~ 85 ℃ for saponification reaction, and the reaction time is about 40 minutes. After saponification, add 226 kg of 10% calcium chloride solution dropwise for double decomposition reaction. After dropping, keep the temperature at 80 ~ 85 ℃ and continue stirring for 90 minutes to complete the double decomposition reaction. After the reaction is completed. Cool the material to room temperature and filter. The filter cake is washed with water until there is no chloride ion, and then dried at 70 ℃ to obtain calcium stearate.

3. Quality inspection

Measure the calcium content accurately, weigh 0.59 sample, put it into a 500 ml conical flask, add 10 ml of 1:2 nitric acid and 10 ml of water, cover it with a watch glass, heat it on an electric furnace to boil, and completely decompose the sample. Wash the surface dish and conical flask with hot water, and then heat it to boil for a while to make the transparent dispersed grease layer (upper layer) gather together. After cooling, add 150 ~ 200 ml of water and a wide range of pH test paper, then neutralize it with 1:1 ammonia water to pH 8 (the test paper shows blue-green), then add 7 drops of chrome black T indicator and 10 ml of ammonia ammonium monochloride buffer solution (pH 10), and immediately drip 0.05 mol / L disodium ethylenediamine tetraacetate standard until the solution changes from purplish red to pure blue.

4. Product use

(1) It is used as a non-toxic heat stabilizer for PVC and has excellent lubricity. The thermal stability effect is not as good as barium stearate, lead stearate, tin stearate and cadmium stearate. However, it is cheap and easy to obtain, with low toxicity and good processing performance. Combined with zinc soap and epoxy compound, it has synergistic effect and can improve thermal stability. It is commonly used in food packaging film, medical appliances and other soft products requiring non-toxic. The addition of salt based lead and lead soap can increase the gelation rate in hard products. This product is used in polyethylene and polypropylene, which can eliminate the adverse effect of residual catalyst on the color and stability of resin. This product is also widely used as lubricant and release agent for thermosetting plastics such as polyolefin, polyester reinforced plastics, phenolic resin and amino resin. The disadvantage of this product is that it has initial coloring. When it is heated above 100 ℃ for a long time, it will turn white PVC plastic into reddish, especially when there is titanium dioxide in the formula. When the dosage of this product is large, there is segregation and scaling.

(2) It is used as lubricating and unblocking agent in oilfield operation. It is also used as heat stabilizer of PVC, lubricant and release agent for various plastic processing. In hard products, the combination of salt based lead and lead soap can increase the gelation rate. It is also used for food packaging, medical appliances and other soft films and appliances that require no toxicity. It can also be used as halogen absorber for polyethylene and polypropylene to eliminate the adverse effects of residual catalyst on color and stability. As a plasticizer in rubber processing, it can soften natural rubber and synthetic rubber, but has little effect on vulcanization. It is also used as thickener of lubricating grease, waterproof agent of textiles, smoothing agent of paint, plasticizer in the manufacture of plastic records, etc.

(3) Calcium stearate is a good non-toxic heat stabilizer and lubricant. It is also a smoothing agent and water resistant agent for adhesives and coatings. It is widely used in chemical production processes such as plastics and rubber. The thermal stability effect is not as good as barium stearate, lead stearate, tin stearate and cadmium stearate. 5. Storage method

Packed in iron drums, wooden barrels or nylon woven bags lined with plastic bags. Store in a cool and dry place, pay attention to fire prevention, sun protection and moisture-proof.

6. Safety measures

(1) Strong alkali is used in saponification process, and operators shall wear labor protection articles.

(2) It is packed in lined plastic bags and outer woven bags. Store in a cool, ventilated and dry place, and store and transport as general chemicals. Closed operation, pay attention to ventilation. Wear dust mask. Wear safety glasses when necessary. Wear work clothes. Wear protective gloves if necessary. Other work clothes shall be changed and washed in time. Pay attention to personal hygiene.
